Faces of Quarantine, One Virus Many Faces: Zainab Ali

There is a whole rainbow of emotions to match the unpredictability that this pandemic has exposed. My feelings have ranged from feeling blessed, grateful to be healthy, and employed to sad, tired, and anxious about the future.
A lot has changed for me; for starters, my daily commute has gone from 4 hours a day to 0. This has allowed me to spend quality time with my family, which hadn’t happened in many years. The pace is slower, which in the beginning was enjoyable but now seems a bit forced. Amidst working from home, cooking, cleaning, keeping an eye on my distance learning kids, the relaxed pace is hectic in a different way these days.

My biggest concern is the economy, and that’s probably because I have been blessed so far with a healthy self and loved ones. I do worry about an economic downturn that will impact the future of all of us.
I feel like we can always do more given unlimited resources and time, but truthfully both are in short supply. We could have started social distancing earlier, but once it started, I think, for the most part, everyone pitched in. Lately, of course, that hasn’t been the case, and the crazies have come out in full force, which may put us at risk…
